Florida Avenue Market Tour

The tour pairs the historical significance of the market with visits to shops selling produce, food and other hard to find goods. The tour ends at A. Litteri's, the oldest continuously operating Italian deli in the city serving some of the best Italian sub sandwiches you'll find anywhere!!!

Led by urban revitalization advocates, this tour is a partnership with Capitol Hill North Neighborhood Association, Trinidad Neighborhood Association, Frozen Tropics weblog, and Rebuilding Place in Urban Space weblog. Be prepared for cash only purchases and the spirit of the city's largest wholesale market.

Community Service Award

CHNNA presented our first annual Community Service Award at the Gallaudet Community Relations Council Annual Awards and Recognition Program. Our first award was presented to Ms. Helena Darden for her long-standing contributions in our neighborhood.

The awards ceremony was held on Saturday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Center and Hotel. The ceremony included entertainment and a silent auction fund raiser for community activities.

Cherry Blossom Tree Planting

Please join us in partnering with the NoMa BID and the National Cherry Blossom Festival Neighborhood Tree Planting Program to celebrate our community at a cherry tree planting event on the grounds of J.O. Wilson Elementary School on Sunday, April 5th at 1 p.m. Anne Phelps, ANC 6C04 Commissioner, and DC Ward 6 City Councilmember Tommy Wells will be joining us for this celebration.

Neighborhood Watch

Make our neighborhood safer. CHNNA is organizing a Neighborhood Watch Program and has invited the Metropolitan Police Department to the March 19 CHHNA general meeting to discuss how the program works, the benefits to the community, and how you can get involved. With a little effort, we can be rewarded with a safer, cleaner, better prepared, and more secure neighborhood in which to live.
