Overview

Overview

Welcome to the Capitol Hill North Neighborhood Association (CHNNA) web site. This web site was created to help support the efforts of the Capitol Hill North Neighborhood Association. The CHNNA was created to help bring our neighborhood together and to make it better.

  • The initial boundaries have been set as G Street NE to the south, the railroad tracks to the west, Florida Avenue to the north, and 8th Street NE to the east. As with all aspects of the Association, the boundaries can be changed in the future.
  • We held our inaugural meeting on April 5, 2008 and we had an awesome turnout (over 70 people) and we had some great discussions on the future direction. See the Neighborhood Survey Results for an overview of the concerns of the citizens in our community.
  • We also finalized the initial Articles of Incorporation and submitted them on Friday, June 13, 2008. They were accepted and we now have a certificate that recognizes us as an incorporated, legal entity. The neighborhood association is official!
  • We've also put the finishing touches on the By-laws (we will do our best to get them added to the web site in the near future). We presented the by-laws at the second meeting on May 17, 2008 and we ratified and filed them a short time later.
  • We have held several meetings since we have become official and we have held elections for officers. The following are the current officers of the CHNNA:
    • Chairman: Cheryl Grant
    • Vice Chairman: Tom Madison
    • Secretary: Dan Curry
    • Treasurer: Tim Armstrong
    • At-Large Delegates: Jennifer Chisholm, Trista Etzig, and Briant Stringham
  • We currently have one vacancy in the at-large delegates that we hope to fill in the near future.

Feel free to let us know if you think there is an area that needs to be addressed and we will do the best we can to address it.

Welcome to the (Capitol Hill North) Neighborhood ... Association!

Joining

Joining

Joining CHNNA is easy -- just come to one of our meetings and ask to sign up. Dues for the current year (Fiscal Year 2009) have been set at $5 (five dollars) for the entire fiscal year. Your dues will help us to accomplish the goals that will help make our neighorhood that much nicer. Membership also allows you to vote on any issues that require the vote of the full membership and it also gives you a voice in steering the direction of our association.
